Living in Cary, NC

Newcomers by the thousands are still ‘discovering’ Cary, NC
Cary’s early years were marked as a mainly rural and agricultural town, but that changed in the mid-1800’s after officials agreed to allow the North Carolina Rail Road to lay tracks through the town. This decision would forever change the small community into a prosperous location full of travel, business development, and mail service.
Officially named “Cary” in 1856 by founder Frank Page in honor of General Samuel Cary, the town has evolved into a rapidly growing alternative to “Big- City Life.”
Growth has increased since the 1960’s when IBM moved into the area and created a bedroom community. In just 18 years the population has nearly tripled. Back in 2004, Money magazine named Cary the hottest town on the east coast and one of the six most desirable places to live in America. The real estate market in Cary is very strong; it has resulted in the most incredible bidding wars we’ve ever seen.
With Cary nearly almost built out building has moved on due to the lack of buildable parcels of land. Cary’s real estate is very strong due to a variety of homes in all price ranges, great for first-time home buyers.
The strong housing market and quality of life are definite pluses when it comes to choosing a location for a business. For instance, in 2004, Cary was named as the 9th safest of 354 large cities in the nation in the 11th annual Morgan Quitno Safest city award.
